Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs)

Ozinga is proud to offer many sustainable building solutions using our supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs).

Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs) Overview

Ozinga is proud to offer many sustainable building solutions using our supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). Using byproducts such as fly ash and slag, we produce mixes with up to 70 percent recycled cementitious materials. We also use fewer virgin materials and reduce the amount of waste products going to landfills. SCMs contribute to a more sustainable future and can help earn LEED certification without reducing strength or durability of roads and driveways.

Sustainability Benefits

  • Reducing the amount of cement in an Ozinga concrete mix by 70%
  • Reduces the carbon footprint of that concrete by more than 50%
  • Using more SCMs in concrete means less is taken to landfills
  • Concrete mixes with SCMs have a higher durability factor than mixes that don’t
  • Utilizing SCMs contribute to a more sustainable future by lowering the carbon footprint of the mix
  • Using SCMs, Ozinga has been able to reduce the amount of Portland cement used by more than 160,000 tons per year

Installing a concrete driveway is one of the best ways to improve curb appeal while making a solid investment for your home. When properly installed and maintained, a concrete driveway can last over 30 years with low maintenance costs. Plus, with the option to color and stamp your concrete, you can have a concrete driveway with a look that’s uniquely you.

Concrete Stamped Patios

Using a variety of stained concrete colors and stamp options, your patio can reflect your style and strike a great balance between the indoors and outdoors.

Concrete Streets and Highways

When it comes to long-lasting performance, concrete is the best answer for building streets and highways. Updated technology in admixtures and fibers is making our concrete streets and highways even stronger, with some roadways performing up to 50 years longer than their expected service life.

Many other materials provide high performance in the short term but require time-consuming and costly upkeep in the long term. When working with Ozinga’s concrete, you can be assured that you’re making a worthwhile and long-lasting investment.
